Today I will split apart the ocean and dry up its waters. He took up his bow and released a flaming arrow which seared across the waves making the ocean boil. He fitted a second arrow to his bow the skies darkend, the winds roared, the heavens thundered and flashed, and from the waters arose the Sea God Varuna, sparkling with gems, entering by serpents and he spoke to Rama with joined hands.
"My lord, I am a slave to the five elements the eternal laws of nature like the fire, like the air, like the water, like the earth, like the space, none can go into making this universe such as them all have to abide by its own nature."
The Sea God vanished into the waves bowing low to Rama.
